ABSTRACT: A 4-month-old male Himalayan cat presented with clinical signs of acute lethargy and motor incoordination after being treated amitraz for parasite control. On examination, the patient was lethargic ataxic severe pulicosis, hypothermia, pale mucous membranes, bradycardia, weak femoral pulses, hyperglycemia, bilateral mydriasis. Blood tests revealed non-regenerative hypochromic microcytic anemia. Serum alanine levels were elevated tenfold. The received supportive treatment atipamezole (an α2-adrenergic antagonist) at a dose 0.1 mg/kg intramuscularly. After 24 h hospitalization constant monitoring, recovered discharged. published literature showed that active ingredient is effective in some parasitic diseases cats, such as scabies demodicosis; therefore, it still used this purpose. Given small therapeutic margin insecticide, veterinarians should caution owners about its potential toxicity. This report emphasized significance intoxication feline species success treatment, which be initiated first hour intoxication.
